Tyler and Martin’s New Year’s Eve Wedding!

Two years ago on a beautiful sunny December day two crazy kids decided to have a wedding…on New Year’s Eve!  I can never contain my excitement when a couple comes to me with an out of the box vision or idea, so when Tyler asked me to coordinate her wedding I knew that it was going to be an amazing event.  You see, Tyler and Martin are both incredibly talented designers, photographers, and filmmakers.  The two of them together make a creative powerhouse (and 2/3 of The Girl Tyler team), unlike anything the Hampton Roads wedding industry has ever seen before!  So you can imagine my excitement when I was given an advanced glimpse into this epic wedding day they were planning.

Prior to the start of the ceremony the couple headed outside with their phenomenal photographer, Echard Wheeler to capture their “first look” at each other that day and a quick photo session with their bridal party.   Here is a glimpse:

The wedding ceremony was held at MOCA in the Rodriguez Pavilion with the chairs arranged in a circular pattern around the gorgeous hanging blown glass sculpture, that MOCA has become so well known for.

Following the ceremony the guests were invited into the museum’s theatre where Martin presented a video montage of the couple’s family videos as they were growing up.

The cocktail hour was held in the Atrium at the MOCA.  Guests were treated to heavenly bites of butler passed fried green tomatoes with goat cheese, fire roasted red pepper polenta, and black diamond cheddar and macaroni croquettes, courtesy of Chef John with Chef By Design.

Tyler and Martin’s microbrew beer tasting station was a huge hit!  It included Bell’s Winter White Ale, Terrapin Rye Pale Ale, Young’s Double Chocolate Stout, Xingu Brazilian Black, and Kelly’s Irish Raspberry Cider.

The reception started off with the bride and groom’s first dance and went on to include some pretty great toasts and of course, an exceptional vegetarian menu prepared by Chef By Design.  Chef John also designed and created the stunning 3-tiered champagne flute wedding cake.  The guests drank and danced the night away while The Jangling Reinharts kept the music flowing.  It was truly an epic way for everyone to ring in the new year!
